SuperBowl!

I had the funnest night! Jarom and I were the hosts of the "Annual" Superbowl party. We had a great time....ate WAY too much food....and will be so sad to miss it next year:( We have made some great friends the last few months with some of the new Law Students who just moved in. It stinks to say goodbye...Although, it will only be 2 years before they meet us back in Utah! YAY!
This is Jaxson, his girlfriend Kate...and our great friend/(sometimes babysitter) Maranda. She is so cute with these babies...and I love her to death for watching jaxson on occasion. It makes my life so much better to know he is in good hands. She was tickling them here...and they were all smiles! Jaxson is 11 months old....Kate is 6 months old....~
Did I mention that we ate Way too much food. Us girls just kept complaining about being "too-full" but we kept going back for more. That's what happens when you have such wonderful food. (Britt...it is midnight...I can barely walk and I am eating ANOTHER one of your freaking cookies. I hate you for leaving them here!)

I found tons of fun football decor at Target a few weeks ago. It added to the fun....at least us girls thought so. The boys just.....well, look at the picture below. They spent the evening screaming at the TV.
Watching the game.....
Man-You are soooooo good looking:)
Hee hee.
Some of us Girls. Krista, (Kate) Me, Maranda, Brittany.
Jaxson flirting (and sharing) his toys with Kate. He kept jumping along side her...it was funny.

The girls played cards...Wackee 6, one of our favorites. I can only take so much football before I want to die!
Jaxson and Brittany...another one of our WONDERFUL Babysitters....and bestest friends.
Jaxson watching the game...and playing with Chad. It was an enjoyable night....and I hate that the weekend has officially come to an end. Back to work for me....and another week of school for Jarom. We are SOOOO Close to being done....I cannot wait!

So, I was looking at your Super Bowl party pictures (so fun, by the way) and realized that I went to high school with your friend, Maranda. How's that for odd coincidence?

Ok, So are you ready for the longest post ever! hehe. Thanks for sending people to check me and my website out. You are too sweet! I love answering any questions you have keep em’ coming. I love photography so much, that I love to share everything I know. Ok, so those pictures I just took on the white backdrop are on 2 white laminate boards that I got from home depot for $12. I like using those instead of a white sheet because it bounces light better. The key to getting really great “high key” (white backdrop) pictures is you have to light them TONS! I have professional studio lights that I have set up at my house. I point 1 just at the backdrop and crank it up. Then I have a light with a giant softbox, and a reflector across from it, plus a light on an reflector umbrella. Then I meter it and set the white balance and shoot. I could give you all the tech junk if you ever want it and send pictures of the setup. It took me a long time to just figure it all out. If I was just starting out I would shoot with a black backdrop because, you don’t have to light them at, just your subject. And you could do that with just one light and a reflector. Yes, I do use photoshop for all my photo editing. It is the best program out there. I couldn’t live without it. It does take a little bit to learn though. That is also what I do all my digital scrapbooking in because it works in layers. I buy the kits online and put them all together in Photoshop. I would love to teach you how! It is so much fun…addicting. Plus faster and easier than paper scrapbooking.

Oh, sorry to write you a novel here :) But, I was gonna tell you about the other things you were wondering. To get something to focus on just the object you are taking a picture of and nothing else you want a really wide aperture…meaning you want you F-stop to be somewhere around f/ 2.8, 3.2, 3.5. The bigger the number gets the more in focus everything will be. So, if you want your subject in focus and a blurry background then use as close to a 2.8 as possible. If you want everything in focus chose f/8 or f/11. You have to be shooting in manual mode though. You can’t change any aperture or shutter speed in auto. And you will have to meter to get everything correctly exposed. Your camera you get will have a built in meter that is REALLY easy to use. Tell me when you get your new camera and I can explain a little bit when it is right in front of you. There is this great book you should read called, “understanding Exposure” by Bryan Petersen. It tells you how shutter speed, aperture and all of that work together. It is a little overwhelming at first but then after it all clicks it is GREAT! So, don’t get frustrated. I had no one to ask and I just had to figure it out. If you ever want to know anything just ask me. Well I don’t know everything…I am still learning too :) But, some things. I would love to help. Also, the tilting is me doing it while I shoot. I kinda just like that style I guess. I think it makes a more dynamic composition sometimes when things are at an angle. So I tilt my camera.

Well anyways, I always check your blog cause I think your little family is so cute and it is fun to read. Love the pictures. By the way, How you designed your blog is SO CUTE. You will be a great digi scrapbooker. I would love to help you learn. Talk to you later. :) I really need to get your email address...this is long!

Hey,
I just found your blog through Brittany McClellan's blog! Jaxson is so CUTE and he is getting so big!! I can't believe how fast time flies! Sounds like you guys are having lots of fun out there! I loved reading all about you in the post below; can I just say, we are so not alike--hehe--but you are the person I wish I could be in a lot of ways! So, did you get a nice camera or something... I just saw things like "f-stop" and "aperture" in Kelley's post and wondered because I'm kinda into photography myself.
