opening day....

At last. The day my husband dreams about: opening day. Today... March 31st.... my husband spent almost 6 hours watching the Cubs play the first game of the season. Along side him sat Jaxson. The only difference: Jarom watched by choice....Jaxson watched by force. :) I sure hope he grows up to like baseball....his dad really might die if not.
***
It never gets old to see the excitement it brings. Actually I take that back...when something I really want to watch is on....it gets old...and FAST!
***
Meet Kosuke Fukudome (the picture below). This is the new "fan favorite" according to Jarom. I am about sick of hearing his name already...and I have until September at the least to endure the baseball trivia being thrown my way throughout the day.
***
I even woke up today to my husband coordinating with friends over the phone as to what the "password" is to watch each and every game ever played online!
They are taking this to a whole new level of obsession.....
***
The Following game replay is provided....courtesy of Jarom!
***
1st pitch he saw: he hit it off the center field fence. 2nd at bat: he walked. 3rd at bat: he hit a single. THEN...the bottom of the 9th, down three to nothin with two runners on....he hit a three run shot into the right field bleachers.
***
My husband was happier than a kid on Christmas. It was pathetic....and kinda cute.
I have spent the entire weekend listening to fun facts about baseball....while Jarom's excitement for the big day built. For example, yesterday I learned that the song "take me out to the ball game" is the 3rd most popular song in the U.S. Who would have thought? Then I was forced to spend my Sunday evening watching a documentary about baseball and listening to ESPN list EVERY NEW FIELD that has been built in the last decade. SERIOUSLY!?!
***
I even missed watching Oprah's Big Give for that!
***
Although the Cubs lost...all in all it was a great day!
(that is a direct quote from my husband...isn't that hilarious.)
I love making fun of him.
My boys were dressed in Cubs apparel...complete with cubs hats.
Ready to cheer on their team. I loved this one of them giggling together.

Watching in anticipation....
Bonding with dad...
For what it's worth: 3 Baseball Analysts on ESPN predicted the Chicago Cubs to win it all this year!....WE'LL SEE:)

i'm immunized....

This photo was taken before the shots...which explains the smile and overall cheeriness that was still evident in his expression:)
He had a great time roaming around the waiting area.....
Tried to explain what he was thinking to me and his dad....but to no avail...
Read a book with mommy....
This phot is out of order (darn it). He was examining...very seriously....his bandaid from the "finger prick" test.
Iron level...PERFECTION!
I deserve a prize.
This picture cracked me up!
When I handed him the bottle of Tylenol...it was a mix between excitement and fear. I think he knew what was coming and was SCARED....yet, relieved to see the small bottle and the grape tasting wonderfulness it would provide!
Weight: 21 lbs. 12 ounces
Just right.
Head: 90th percentile
a little big. ha!
Height: 50th percentile
Perfection.
Can I have more please.....
"OUCH! How dare you people"
I swear I am worse than a child when it comes to taking Jaxson to get shots. I usually have a pretty strong stomach..considering I work in people's mouths for a living. I see people get shots in the mouth regularly. I feel nothing. I see blood and oral surgery, wisdom teeth extraction, gum grafting, some pretty graphic bike accident victims. I feel nothing.
***
I even THINK about my baby's leg being forced down and stabbed with a thin, sharp, metal object and I physically get sick...and pretty pissed.
***
At his 6 month appointment I literally felt weak...left the room...and spent the next 24 hours vomiting! Beat that. Needless to say, Jarom must be the "shots" parent..while I wait outside and run in immediately after the fact to nurse him back to health and pamper him. I love it because he clings to me....and wants me from then on.
***
I even tease Jarom that he associates all pain with HIM and NOT ME:) hee hee.
It's all part of my plan.
I think it is so cruel that they prick their little finger in order to test for Iron.
Especially because I have never done this! I have puposely been absent from EVERY single high school and/or college class on the day we did the "finger prick" test to determine blood type.

a day at the park...

Yesterday was beautiful.
I just can't wait until Spring!
We spent the entire day hanging out together and Jaxson got A LOT of walking practice strolling around Elmwood Park.
I loved this picture. His little sillouette next to his dad's is precious. The leaves were awesome too. Although....IT IS SPRING....which you could never tell from the pics.
***
The scenery at Elmwood is awesome. I love love love the huge rock walls, bridges, streams and the archways. We only spent a few minutes taking snapshots....so I'll definitely be going back to scope out other fun picture places!
My little man is becoming quite the walker. He was cruisin around the park....almost too hard to keep up with sometimes:)
He now gives kisses on demand...which we both take advantage of NUMEROUS times a day!
No Hands! Look at the smirk.....he is so proud of himself.
Mom and Jax checking out the stream....what a beautiful bridge.

Rock climbing....

He lets out his famous "gut-laugh" whenever Jarom kisses the back of his neck. He doesn't even budge or crack a smile when I do it. How rude.
We had a fun time playing around together. The poor kid has a crazy mother. I hope he turns out normal:)
Practicing Stairs. Our new home (my mom's house) has 2 enormous flights of stairs. We have to start practicing and hopefully master it before the move....in order to avoid a major disaster!

Spending time on the swings.....
***
Thanks for a wonderful day family:) I love getting to spend time together.

---EaStEr wEeKeNd ---

We had a very enjoyable Easter Weekend I have to say!!! We accomplished a lot of organizing and packing for our big Move....and still found time to celebrate with some favorite Easter traditions! Jaxson was hysterical while we were coloring eggs! I have a video to prove it.
***
He has so many differnent laughs...I can't figure it out. He definitely has a fake/forced laugh...and a little old man chuckle at times...but my favorite is his gut laugh. I apologize that I always post video clips of it...but I just can't stop laughing at what a kick he gets out of the littlest things! The video is at the end of this post....YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!!!! You will die laughing.
SATURDAY
Jaxson thought the eggs were perfect sized little baseballs.... we learned that the hard way a few times by watching them fly acrossed the kitchen and shatter:)
He was so happy (like usual) which always makes things more fun and entertaining!

Here we are coloring our eggs....it was quite the task to keep him clean during the process.
Daddy and Jax....
Admiring his blue egg that turned out beautifully....Until,......
He chucked it acrossed the kitchen as hard as he could! We couldn't help but laugh. I guess that's exactly what he's been taught to do with something that size!
The two of us at work.....
Jarom decided it was less messy to let him play with the plastic eggs. It was all good until he realized they were full of candy. Particalarly SNICKERS....Jarom's favorite.
The Finished product!
This picture should follow the one above: after discovering a Snickers located inside the plastic egg and wanting to eat it....his "Mean Mother" refused to let him eat it.... and well, he ATTACKED! Luckily, Jarom was the camera man...and he was ready to document it.
He is so silly....and boy does he know exactly what he wants! He started yelling at me. He doesn't cry or throw fits really...he just skipped the tantrum stage and went straight to sassy teenager. He really will look right at me and yell....never shedding a tear....and you can just tell he is trying to talk to me or explain how frustrated he is!
I tried to give him a kiss to make him feel better....he tried to bite me in return.
***
LITTLE STINKER
***
He did do a wonderful job on his sports egg that dad helped him with!
It turned out great...and very fitting of them both:)
He is so strange sometimes...and always keeps us laughing. For the next little while he rolled around on the ground with a bunch of plastic eggs...examining each and every one. It was so funny to watch. Jarom and I were entertained for most of the evening.....
***
EASTER SUNDAY
The Easter bunny found us....and left Jaxson bubbles, treats, a baseball bat (that looks like a carrot) treats and a bunny that poops jelly beans. I was freaking out when Jarom surprised me with a new mug! Wierd I know...but look closely at the right side of the picture and you will see my new pride and joy:) Since Jaxson was born last March I have carried around a giant hospital mug EVERYWHERE I go. Co-workers tease me that it is another "limb" and people literally have never seen me without it! I have been so thirsty since the second I had him....and my poor mug had seen better days....believe me! It had lost it's straw cap (which is totally sick to not have) and I still carried it with me and drank out of it...covered in who knows how many germs!
Needless to say....It was the best present ever!
***
Sometimes the simple things...make all the difference.
***
EGG HUNT
I had the idea of making Jaxson go on an egg hunt.
Jarom thought I was nuts...but I knew that Jaxson would love it! I knew that it would only take Jaxson a few minutes to know something was different! Sure enough....he started crawling around the room gathering them up....the first one he spotted was under the couch.
*** I loved his reaction***
He is my favorite little thing on earth. He was on his tip toes...peeking into his basket. Not sure what to think of all this I'm sure! With all the holidays lately...you'd think he would be used to waking up to find gifts or treats strewn about the family room. (Christmas...Valentines...)
~Happy Easter~
We had a great day at church....considering we had to wake Jaxson up 30 minutes into a nap to go.... he then spent the entire sacrament meeting screaming his head off. Then, I had to teach sharing time...and Jarom had to teach Young Mens while holding Jaxson (who I'm trying to wean....which is totally NOT working by the way:)
***
This is the best shot I could get of the little man ready for church! I wanted to go outside...but it was freezing. Maybe another day:)
We did take a few moments after church to get some fresh air and play with the bubbles grammy sent us for Easter.

***BUBBLES ***
Jaxson had way too much fun for one day....and I just loved this picture of him cuddling up to Jarom! Having fun is hard work.....
***
Get ready to laugh at my crazy little kid! ENJOY the video~
